June Lavelle (Green) Lewis 81, passed away in Alamogordo on Oct. 27, 2014, after a brief illness. 
June was born on May 31, 1933, to Philip and Callie Lee (Smith) Green in Alamogordo. She married Ernest E.Lewis on May 3, 1953.

June was preceded in death by her parents Philip and Callie Lee Green of Cloudcroft; husband Ernest E. Lewis of Alamogordo; and great-granddaughter Alexis Guerrero also of Alamogordo.

She is survived by her children Philip Lewis, LeRoy Lewis, Ned and Nancy Lewis Green, all of Alamogordo. She is also survived by her brother John Henry Green Sr. and his wife Judy of Kyle, Texas; sister Mary Louise (Green) Young, of Austin, Texas; two nephews, four nieces, ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

June was a lifetime resident of the Cloudcroft and Alamogordo area. June was recognized for her artistry with embroidery, an art she taught herself at the age of 8. June spent her childhood on the Green Dairy Farm and graduated from Cloudcroft High School, class of 1951, as valedictorian.
She stayed home with her children until entering the workforce in 1979. "June Bug" joyfully served at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital for 27 years before retiring in October of 2008. June is celebrated for her sweet, caring and loving person, as well as, her get-it-done work ethic.

There will be visitation on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, 5 - 7 p.m. at Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home. Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. also at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Monte Vista Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are welcome at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home, 1334 North Scenic Drive, Alamogordo. The family would like to request donations in June Lewis' honor be made to local cancer organizations.
